Dear EdKey Community,
It is with great excitement that the EdKey board welcomes the new chief executive officer, Mark Plitzuweit. The EdKey board commenced a comprehensive CEO search before the first of the year. The board was supported in the selection process by a panel of interviewers comprised of parents, teachers, principals and administrative leaders from the EdKey community. We appreciate the time, effort and care of the panel and board member Jared Richardson who advanced a final slate of candidates to the EdKey board for consideration. The finalists are extraordinary instructional leaders and we are humbled that this caliber of people is interested in leading EdKey.
Mr. Plitzuweit has two decades of experience in education as a leader, in both the instructional and operational areas. He has experience starting new educational organizations and turning around existing schools. He is a hand-on leader who likes to spend time in schools meeting and observing students, teachers, administrators and parents. Mr. Plitzuweit has an appreciation for diverse schools that serve diverse communities, much like the EdKey network of schools.
Our new CEO starts his journey with us on March 14. He plans on scheduling a series of town hall sessions at schools to meet our people and learn our issues. We believe you will share our enthusiasm for Mr. Plitzuweit when you meet him in a couple weeks. Below is a brief bio.
EdKey Board President
Mr Plitzuweit comes to EdKey with 20+ years of hands-on instructional, administrative and operational leadership, including multiple executive roles in the education sector. Mr. Plitzuweit served as the Executive Director/Principal of LSC High School, a charter school; an Assistant Superintendent of The Aces, a network of private K-12 schools; Executive Director/Principal of SEC, a private K-8 school specializing in behavioral special education; Regional Campus Director at Brookline College and, most recently, the Director of Education Operations at West Coast Ultrasound Institute. Mr Plitzuweit also has K-12 Principal Certification in AZ. His proven leadership in diverse education settings makes him an excellent choice to lead EdKey.
